Our maiden extraction took place in our new, state of the art, BQUAL certified, processing plant today - 2.4 tons, and all went well.

We're back on dry land

It may have taken slightly longer than anticipated, but the honey is in the UK, having cleared the porth authorities with a clean bill of health, and now awaiting packing.

As Paul has said: "You don't just go into beekeeping, it's something you're raised and brought up in and most companies involved with beekeeping are family owned" - from one beekeeping family in Perth, Australia, to another beekeeping family in Perth, Scotland - Scarlett's (Scotland) are working hard to have the honey packed and ready for distribution.

We're at sea

Literally - 14 tons of our delicious honey: Jarrah, Red Gum and York Gum, packed in bulk containers, is currently sailing across the oceans to the UK, where it will be hauled by road to our packers in Scotland, ready to launch into the market - look out for that great taste near you soon.

A Busy Few Weeks

The blog has been a bit quiet lately, but that doesn't mean that we've been sitting with our feet up, on the contrary, we've been rather busy. Firstly, we were exhibiting in two locations at the same time:
Speciality and Fine Food Fair in London and Fine Food Australia in Sydney

And Paul has been hard at work decanting the honey into the drums for the next shipment

Tests at an independent laboratory have confirmed that our Jarrah honey has a total activity of 20+.
More than that, tests have also shown that at 82% pure, our Jarrah honey is one of the purest mono-floral honeys available.

We have established a marketing unit in the United Kingdom to service international clients. It is our goal to ensure that we have the necessary resources on hand to provide a stable and secure supply of all our products to markets in the Middle East, Europe, Asia and Africa.

We are licensed with the Australian Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry, and strive to ensure that our honeys are produced to the highest possible levels of taste, goodness and purity.

“At the birth of the Gum Tree Apiary, we realized the importance of technology in terms of production, marketing and distribution, and we set out to ensure that we are able to consistently deliver the purest honey from the Western Australian bushland to all corners of the globe,” says Paul.

We are active members of the Western Australian Beekeepers Association and also belong to the Agricultural Produce Commission.

The Next Stage

Initially making use of a fellow beekeeper’s facility, our honey has been extracted and sold to a local cooperative. The time has now come to do what we do best: extract and supply superb quality mono-floral honeys to those in search of liquid gold. Our state of the art extraction plant is nearing completion, and our first shipment of honey is about to be dispatched. We can’t tell you where it’s going yet, but watch this space…

The Story So Far

The Gum Tree Apiary was born in 2007 when Paul fulfilled a lifelong dream and purchased around 400 beehives in Western Australia, and started the art of beekeeping on a full time basis.

Working long days and nights, traveling vast distances, he is able to ensure the bees are constantly sited in areas abundant with only the finest available flowering plants and nectar.
